On the side, I've been wondering - exactly why are most news stations cropping out the right-hand side of the photograph?

After all, the swerving lead patrol car is an equally important dimension of this accident which is likely lost on the general public, and cyclists just the same. Is the police unwilling to receive the possible negative commentary for failing to protect the front of the pack?

There is a picture floating around somewhere (of course I can't find it now) that shows the cop trailing the pack before the crash. i have a feeling that if he hadn't swerved he would have killed a few more cyclists. I'm just sayin' a picture's worth 1,000 words, but sometimes it take 1,001 words to tell a story.
