I am buying a second used bike which will be a bad weather/rain bike, found a used 02 LeMond Zurich, 853 frame with a carbon fork, Ultegra equiped, it has about 5-6k mile for $700, Or an 03 Jamis setalite(sp) NOS on ebay for $599 but with Sora.

I am thinking LeMond, what do you guys think?

Thanks

LeMond. Work on the price though. Try $500.

Thanks Psimet, she is refusing to go any lower, she said she paid $1700 at the end of 02 , should I wait for a better deal? I also found on Craigslist an 02 Lemond Nevada City for $400 plus shipping with very little miles, but it has Sora and a steel fork.

The Jamis seems a bit overpriced to me. I paid 500 for my '05 Satellite NOS in '06. I'm very much a fan of Jamis and I'm happy w/ mine. The Satellite is 520 steel so it'll be a bit heavier than 853 but still a nice ride. I'm guessing you'll be happier w/ ultegra and the Lemond if you can get the price down at all.

I paid $26,000 for my Chevy Impala in 02 as well. I just sold it for $4,500. Bikes don't hold value either. Unfortunately, like you are finding out, most people don't get that.

It's a 6yr old rig with an "outdated" 9spd group. I realize that's fine, but market wise it deosn't carry much weight or value.

I agree, I would go for the LeMond and $500 (maybe $600) would be a really good deal with Ultegra.

I understand, I think I'll just wait till I find a better deal, I thought the Jamis was over priced too for an 03 year.

I tried, gave her $650 but she turned it down, she said will take $700

Has she gotten any replacement parts? I got a complete overhaul with many replacements at 8500 miles and it cost me $200, so there's your 200 difference. I've got a bike on par with the quality of the 2002 version of the Zurich that is three years younger and at most I would sell it for $600 (ok, it has 10k on it too, but nevertheless), and that's with new cables, tires, cable housings, brake pads, Ultegra cassette and dura-ace chain with only 1,500 miles on them, and Ultegra everything else, original parts, and the carbon fork.

Nice ride but I would hold out for $600 or keep looking, unless you really need a ride now, then pay the $700 knowing you overpaying a little.

I agree ColorChange, and No I really don't need a ride right now, I have two bikes right now a Bianchi road bike and a Specialized mtn bike which I use for bad weather riding and this is the one I want to replace eventually.

That's a hideous stem on that Lemond...
Someone that won't take $650 in hand on $700 asked is a bit hard-assed.
If you don't love it and you don't NEED it, keep looking. You'll be happy you did.

As for that Jamis, it's old Sora for $599? Nuff said. Buy new at that pace.

Just a little update

As Lary said above "keep looking, you will be happy you did"

I think I found a good deal, an 03 Zurich in my size with 300 miles from a lady that bought it new and lost interest in biking, Ultegra all around, $450

I think its a good deal for the last year of 853 Pro steel.
