View Full Version : Anyone use Rocky mount Noose?
I have Toyota Sienna minivan and want to get roof racks. I see the Rocky mount Noose attaches directly to my factory roof racks. With Thule I have to buy cross bars first($40), then bike tray($120). If it works, Rocky mount($85) will be half the price. Any feedback?
I used the Lariat with my Yakima rack for a while. The trays worked just fine. My only complaint was that their quick release was pointed. I think they fixed that last year. I have actually been thinking about getting the noose for my current car to add some rack space.

RockyMounts makes good stuff, or at least they did a few years ago when I tried them. They probably still do but I wanted to qualify my experience. The advantage of this route is that you can get your bikes mounted as is and if later you decide you would like to mount other things that could not go directly to your factory bars, you can mount the Noose to an aftermarket bar you might want.
The Sienna is tall so mount the racks close to the edge to ease mounting. Also move the crossbars near where the rails attach to the roof for maximum support to the factory bar.
Will the Noose fit Thule ® and Yakima ® Bars?
Yes, it will. It is not specifically designed for this application. And although it doesn't look as nice it will fit and hold the bike just fine.

I can't say much for the Noose, but I installed the Lariat (red one) on my Vibe last week. Both carriers are the same other than the mounts. I'm sure the quality is just as high and for the price you can't go wrong. And last but not least, they have excellent customer service :thumb:

fwiw -- i bought the rocky mount for my sienna a few years ago, so it was an older model. i returned it as some parts started to rust quickly and i didn't like the quick release mechanism. i then bought a thule with the shorter cross bars and velo-vise. i've been very happy with it, like the quick release, the product was higher quality, and i haven't taken it off for years and it's still going strong. again, it was an older Noose and it looks like the new ones have changed a lot, hopefully for the better
You can mount Yak and Thule racks to the crossbars as well. They have clamps that allow all their stuff to mount to factory crossbars.
Here's the Yak Mighty Mounts:
