I have a Stronglight (I think) BB and I want to know what the #'s on the axle mean.

The 18 I believe means that it is 118mm, but what does the 7 mean?

On the other side there is a stylized "S" and a "C". Does the "S" stand for Stronglight? What does the "C" mean?

Thanks for the info

Most manufacturers mark the date of manufacture and source (e.g. foundry). A few publish the codes.

Do you want to know something about the part, or are you just curious?

I ordered a new Campy BB (And Campy Crank) and would like to sell this one when the new one arrives. I want to know the model, if possible, so I can post it with the right information.

Quote D, B, and A and C if they're different (asymmetrical). Quote the taper if you know it. http://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html

"7" series spindles fit "oversized" 73 mm ISO/British bottom brackets,

That only applies to SR/Sugino BB spindles. The OP has a Stronglight.

I agree with DMF: if you're selling it, list all the dimensions. Parts from that era were not particularly standardized- you're better off describing it.
