Today the weather was poor up here in North Eastern Massachusetts. It has been drizzly all day and the ground was damp. I wanted to take my fixed up Raleigh Record out for a spin to see how the bike handled the wet weather. I went in the reverse of my normal route (a little 6 mile loop). The bike handled the damp ground well although the expected longer brake time did occur. I even had to Flintstone one stop because a car splashed me as I went around a bend...

But I have a little brake spot (really 2 spots one on each side near the end of my loop) where I can get off the bike and relax a bit. (I am still new to cycling and can get worn out after about 5 miles so here are the promised pictures of my Zen like resting spot...

remember the weather was dreary so I will take some pictures when the weather is better.

Beautiful. Even in the rain. Can't wait to see it in beautiful weather.

Looks very nice! The dampness and foggy type conditions give it mystique!
Keep up the good work!

Nice pix, BTW the light is often better on overcast days, then on bright sunny days, because the clouds defuse the light, giving outdoor scenes a very nice and even lighting, with more detail. A couple of tricks, a grad ND filter can help give detail to the sky, but actually making it a stop or two darker, a polarizer may also help. Converting to B&W and adding a red filter at the time, can also make for a better sky.

Now needing to "Flintstone stop" is a concern, find a small magnet, and see if those rims are magnetic, if they are, then they are likely chromed steel, and chromed steel rims are almost as slippery when wet as ice. According to Guinness the slipperiest material is Teflon, obviously Msrs. Guinness have never driven a car with rubber tires on wet ice, or a bicycle with wet chromed steel rims, and rubber brake pads. A set of aluminum alloy rims works much better, also check your brake pads, brake pads are fairly cheap, so a new set every year is a good idea.
