I was completely shocked and appalled. I've never received such hostility from such a mass of drivers before.
I was descending down CR 73 from Conifer to Evergreen. It's a fairly fast descent. Taking it fairly easy and cautiously I can pretty easily top the speed limit, like i did today. The majority of the descent is 40mph with some spots that are 35. And like i said, while doing the "spin and coast" technique, it's pretty easy to exceed the speed limit. So anyway, i'm going down the road staying trying my best to keep within 1foot to 1.5feet of the white line (acceptable by colorado law). Then all of the sudden cars and trucks come blasting past me like they actually have somewhere important to go. Note: remember i am still going the speed limit or maybe 5 over. I received a F*** YOU!!! from about 80% of the cars that passed, very agressively i might add. They just had to be in front of me even though everyone's going the same speed. I ended up stopping a little further down the road to wait for about 5min. and make sure everyone passed. I ended up having an amazing finish of my ride. I continued down highway 74 into morrison and wasn't passed by a single car.
There just happened to be a little pocket of people on this stretch of highway that were all pissed at the world and had to take it out on a cyclist. My question is: was it just a bad day? did anyone else experience this kind of harrassing or was it just my luck? Maybe i'll stay out of the mountains on fridays.
