I have not ridden my Road bike yet this year and am not sure if it would be such a bad idea to ride my mountain bike at the HHH. My road bike is just a double should of had a triple set up instead a little late now. So that is one of the reasons why I like the mountain bike more gears. I was out in the area with the mountain bike a few weeks back and it felt comfortable. Mountain bike weighs a few more pounds and wider tires then the road bike so those are the big negatives. Also the outlook for Saturday is rain. Longest ride so far this year was 83 miles. I was looking at some of the pictures from last year and saw a few mountain bikes. Good Idea or bad Idea on Mountain bike? Just doing 100K.

Put some slick tires on the mountain bike and you'll do just fine. Probably pass people on the uphills.

Just be careful on the descents.

+1. There are always some mountain bikes. Another option is to swap the mountain cassette and derailler over to the road bike- but if you were comfy on the mtb just go with it! See you at the top.

Thanks for the help. Sitting at home now waiting for the storm to hit town. Glad I didn't keep riding today. Glad to know that it isn't that crazy of an idea. Switching to slicks might not be an option it is a 29er haven't seen any. I also feel better at the down hills on the mountain bike then the road bike. I'll be keeping an eye on the weather for Saturday. Thanks for the help.

29er tires are the same rim diameter as 700c road tires check here http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/tires/622.html. A set of 28-32c road tires would be much better rolling than mountain bike tires and should be wide enough to protect your rims. If you chose not to ride pm me, I might be interested in your spot if I can get the packet. How much I'd pay depends on how hard it is raining.

The more I think about it the more I think I'm going to ride the mountain bike. So I will be going to the ride. My spot will not be for sale. I have the money for gas. I have a hotel room. I have Friday off. Now I just need a little luck.
