I popped. Hard. I don't like making excuses but, that's what I get going into a race with -25.6 TSB.

Training Stress Balance. It indicates a lot of training stress recently without much rest/recovery. The more negative the number, the bigger the "training hole" you've dug. The more positive the number, the better your "form".

A fancy way of saying that you had tired legs going into the race?
I hate it when that happens!

what was this race like anyway? was it another typical crashfest that seems to be the case for most mabra events this year? did people know how to handle a non rainy race? :p

Historically I have felt/rode better when my tsb is around -5 to 0 not positive. As for the massive explosion I'll be right there with you after tomorrow.

Very wide course. Hard to get away, and it was really hot relative to what it's been and really easy to overheat. 25 minutes into the race I get goosebumps everywhere, drank all my water and still felt like I was in the desert. One crash in the 4 race, guy took himself out of commission and no one else. Break stayed away for about 6 laps or so, got caught right at the end, bunch sprint for the finish.
It's been an hour and a half since the race and I still feel overheated.

dang, sounds fun

It was. Just to give you an idea of how much the heat took out of me, my 30 minute normalized power was over 50 Watts lower than a typical race.

Right, nice cool early summer day.
It's 8am and 80 degrees. I'm seriously debating bringing my camelbak.

As all of you whine about the heat at your races, there are no races near me.
I go from the MABRA area down to here. The closest races that I have found are near the SC/NC border. I would give most anything to have more races down here near Charleston.
So HTFU and enjoy those races for those of us who have none.

I live in Columbia. Most of the races are 2-4 hours away so I feel your pain. I'm thinking about taking the TT bike up to Lowes Thursday since its less than 2 hours from work.

I'm starting to wonder if all this technology would be useful for me or if it would just further convince me that I'm not winning material.

With the power meter I know exactly how much I suck!

Dear Cheung,
Please stop using wimpy triathlete jargon and weird calculations. As botto said, HTFU. When you're feeling good, you feel good. When you don't, well, we all suck some days. No reason to make a mathematical equation of your suffer.
Sincerely,
Your former teammate.

Never been much a fan of the "Like a virgin on prom night..." metaphor. Just creepy.

So, you were tired and didn't ride well. Somehow, I'll bet you don't need a bunch of fancy equipment and an engineering degree to predict that.

Never claimed that I did. Feel better now?
