Hi, I was going to purchase a new front derailleur. Now on the bike is a shimano deore m510. What else would work? If I went to a deore LX, which number would I chose? The bike is a gary fisher tassajara, no changes have been made to it. The seat tube is 1 3/8 dia. Thanks for any help.
Anything from the Mountain line for the appropriate number of chainrings.
Why are you buying a new one? Don't like the way the old one shifts?

No, the original shifts fine. I see them on sale and figured it would be nice to have a spare. I have deore rapid fire shifters, does it matter if I get the top pull or the bottom pull derailleur?

Yeah, you want to match what's on the bike now. It's possible that a change will bolt right up but usually you'll have cable routing issues or sometimes derailleur mounting issues that you'll have to solve.
