Went down today and looked at the bikes ... and the prices! I can't afford a Madone, I just can't. I'm going down tomorrow and ride the Roubaix Elite Compact and others.

I'm also going to ride the Allez again which I didn't like this spring but ... after getting used to the 'crunched up position' with the Aerobars, I think I may be more receptive to it.

If you go with the Allez, remember that it's an order of magnitude faster than a comfort or fitness bike and handles really quick.

yeah, I gotta look @ wheelbase, I want something nimble but not deadly for my skill. I don't want a mare but I don't want a triple crown winner either....... doubt I'd get one with my budget LOL!

Take a serious look at the Roubiax, and even the Trek Pilot. They're fast, fast, fast and very comfortable. I was very tempted by both lines, but as they say - steel is real!

Frankly, with an Allez, you're going to be getting a really spirited Arabian Stallion. :P It's a really fun ride, but you can get yourself in very serious trouble with it as well. I'm a good rider, and look what happened to me when I hit a little loose sand on the road in a sprint. The bike went out from under me so fast I didn't even have time to finish the thought "OH Sh<CRUNCH>!" Next thing I knew, I was on the pavement trying to figure out if I was seriously hurt.....still clipped in to the pedals........:eek:

If you are looking more for comfort take a look at the Specialized Sequioa, more touring frame and a little more relaxed than an Allez.
