Been riding for 3 years, but this is my first year racing. Have felt great up until the last 2 weeks or so. legs are tired, getting sore and burning under less effort than ususal, endurance seems down, etc. What do you think? Possibly overtraining? Main issue seems to be in the glutes and hips. Moved the seat up a tad and dropped a few spacers from the bars. Not sure if that could have anything to do with it. What do you think?
you're likely not overtrained, just under-rested.
the pain in hips/glutes likely = ITB, and is consistent with the change in position you describe + poor training habits (i.e. I'll bet you dont stretch your hamstrings or ITB or glutes, few do). you probably have too much saddle/handlebar drop now for your flexibility and physiology. change it back or go part way back, get a massage, look up ITB stretches and hamstring stretches.
Take some time off from intensity. This happened to me earlier this year. I felt great afterwards.
