I'm cleaning up my place, and discovered several boxes of Peak Bars. They have an expiry date of 2003, but they have been sealed in their little foil packages.

Would you consider eating them after all this time? Or would you just assume they'd gone bad by now.

And what about unopened cans of Ensure Powder? Their expiry date is 2005.

Oh ... and ... there's more ...

-- an opened can of Accelerade powder with an expiry date of 2006

-- an unopened container of Sustained Energy with an expiry date of 06-21-10 ... what do you suppose that means ... 2006 or 2010?

-- an unopened bottle of Powerade with an expiry date of 2006

As much as I hate to waste food, I wouldn't take a chance on any of it. The 2010 sounds weird so also don't chance it. just my opinion.

Feed squirrels, observe & act accordingly. :D

Personally I'd eat it all. I've eaten plenty of expired energy bars with no ill effects (at least no effects I've noticed yet ;) .)

I know those things keep for ever ... all the preservatives they put into them ... but the Peak bars are "organic" so I don't think they put quite as much preservatives in them as other companies do.

No way I'd eat those - feed to doggies. :)

You must have an 'outside' dog. If I gave that kind of food to my dog, she'd be taking a huge steaming dump within about 20 minutes of eating it. (she doesn't like change).

i'd eat it all. my friend and i drank some juice boxes we found in his pantry dated for 2002. we live on the edge. oh and they were delicious.

Well, I opened one Peak Bar package ... no mold, to my surprise ... and I took a bit ... a little dry, but then they are a little dry anyway. The only thing I did notice was that they smelled and tasted just a bit ... fermented ... or something.

But I lived through the night! :D

Now I'm really not sure what to do with these things because I'm not sure I could choke down the dryness on a ride ... but they seem to be OK to eat (I think).

What do you do with your ancient energy bars?

Feed them to the geese.
