Long Distance Cycling - what are your long distance goals for the summer?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What are your long distance cycling goals for the summer months? I find myself with two months of work-free existence, making me feel like a 19-year-old again (despite being the wrong side of 40). My long distance goals include the following:

- Make both June and July months in which I cycle 1000 miles (a bit of catching up to do for June!)
- Complete a double century (my first for many a year)
- Try for a 5 hour century
- Complete at least two rides up our (Thailand's) highest mountain. At a mere 25 miles it hardly qualifies as long distance, but the 8,500 feet of climbing make it a monster.
- Do a mini-tour (about 3 days) on some of the mountainous roads around the north of Thailand along the border with Burma

Success in meeting these goals will be due in some part to the encouragement and advice found on this forum.

So how about you? Anyone planning a trip to this part of the world?

My goals for this year:

Complete 2 Super Randonneur series (200,300,400 and 600km ACP-sacntioned brevets. I'm within one ride of finishing my first series for the year). That'll get me 30% of the way to earning my Ultra Randonneur medal (10 SR series).

Complete the Rocky Mountain 1200, hopefully in 80-85 hours. That will be my first 1200 - did a 1000k last fall, which should serve as good preparation for a 1200.

Actually, I'm on a 4-year plan, leading up to PBP in 2011: at least one, and when possible 2, SR series every year, and a 1000 or 1200k every year, just to get comfortable with the multi-day rides, so that PBP won't be a complete shock to the system. One of the complicating factors is that the nearest brevets are 150-200 miles away. If gas prices go much higher, that may throw a wrench in the works.

My goal is the upcoming 300km brevet that the b.c Randonneurs is putting on at the end of June. It is said to be one of my challanging brevet's in the club's event's. Some of the climb's are a gut busting 21% grade. I would also like to do this in around 13 hours.
For long term goals I want to accumulate 2000km's worth of brevet's by summer's end. This will be a drastic increase from last year's 400km's I got in. As of yesturday I have 1100km's done so I am well on my way.
