Not seen a thread about this before. What cycling books have you read or do you own? What would you recommend reading? Am not a big book reader but i'll read any books if they're concerned with cycling. My list consists of:

'The Fastest Man On Two Wheels - In Pursuit Of Chris Boardman' by Phil Liggett.
'Miguel Indurain' by Noel Truyers.
'Cycling Health & Physiology' by Ed Burke.
'In Pursuit Of The Yellow Jersey' by Samuel Abt & James Startt.
'Rough Ride' by Paul Kimmage.
'Breaking The Chain' by Willy Voet.
'Put Me Back On My Bike' by William Fotheringham.
'It's Not About The Bike - My Journey Back To Life' by Lance Armstrong.

Anyone read any of these? Anyone read anything else and would recommend anyone else to read?

I read "It's Not About The Bike." It was a good read, and I'd recommend anyone who follow's Lance's carreer to read it, also. I asked for "Every Second Counts" for Christmas. We'll have to see if that one is as good as Lance's first...

I read "the Handbook of Competitive Cycling" (by Achim Schimid) and it's realy good for learning how to set up a training schedual. I also asked for the "Noblist Invention" for Christmas, someone on the forums posted a review for It and they seemed to like it. It's about the invention of the bicycle and it has a forward by Lance Armstrong.

read Bobke II still looking for the 1st Bobke book.
Read a few of the Lance books, I think I got tired of them after the 2nd or 3rd one.
Loved Breaking the Chain.

I've been on a reading binge the last two weeks.
Last week I read Floyd Landis' book. I know i know, hard to tell whether he's telling the truth or not. I read it as a fiction book. It was only mildly enjoyable. He's not that great an author.
Tonight I just finished reading "Ten Points" by Bill Strickland. It was pretty good. Some parts were pretty hard to read (about his abuse as a child).

Will start reading "Dog in a Hat" by Joe Parkin tonight.

A few months ago I read "The Giro D'Italia: Coppi Vs. Bartali at the 1949 Tour of Italy" by Dino Buzatti. I enjoyed that as well.

Couple I liked that haven't been mentioned yet are "Boy Racer" the Cavendish biography and "French Revolutions" about an average joe who decided to ride the Tour de France route a few weeks before the race.

Worst cycling book ever - "Inside the U.S. Postal Bus" it was about as entertaining as a laundry list.

A bit long and drawn out, but interesting as history is Thomas Steven's "Around the World on a Bicycle." First person to do it, and on a penny farthing.

It's been out of print a long time. IIRC a couple years ago I went looking and found some used on Amazon for large amounts of money.

Mike Magnuson's Heft on Wheels (http://www.amazon.com/Heft-Wheels-Field-Guide-Doing/dp/1400052416/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1298523100&sr=8-1) was an enjoyable read for me.

I very strongly recommend Knack Cycling for Everyone: A Guide to Road, Mountain, and Commuter Biking (Knack: Make It easy) (http://www.amazon.com/Knack-Cycling-Everyone-Mountain-Commuter/dp/1599218712/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1298523208&sr=1-1) by Leah Garcia, Jilayne Lovejoy, and Mark Doolittle. It has answers for all of the stupid questions I wasn't afraid to ask and many many more. Well written and researched, great pictures, clear explanations. Anyone can learn something from it.

I would recommend this book ... gives a glimpse of the hardship professional riders must go through, especially those who are simple domestiques and what the belgium racing circuits are all about.

Momentum Is Your Friend: The Metal Cowboy and His Pint-Sized Posse Take on America, story of a father crossing America with a tag-a-long and trailer hitched behind him.
Barbera Savage's book is poignant since she was struck by a truck and killed cycling later.
My library was able to get the two volumes of Thomas Steven's Around the World by Bicycle, the penny farthing ride around the world, I found the language archiac but just his description of leaving San Francisco heading east over the Sierras was mind boggling.
