General Cycling Discussion - What are you getting for Christmas?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, no one else seems to be asking, so... what ARE you getting for Chrstmas, bikewise? ;)

My wife got a rack for my Trek (soon-to-be-commuter) MTB, and a sharp red fleece jacket for me to wear while riding!

My early present to myself? Why, the Trek, of course!

I'm also getting an Under Armour long sleeve shirt for lifting. And, I asked for Lance's, "Every Second Counts" and Bob Roll's, "Bobke"! It'll be a good Christmas!!!

I got myself this for Christmas, a NOS 1998 Cannondale M500. I sneezed yesterday and the bike blew away!

I got this before I shopped for anyone else. I'm terrible this year!

I got myself a new bag : chrome metropolis. My poor old zo bag isn't showing any signs of wearing out, but I decided it'd be nice to have a few more pockets, and possibly a bag that was slightly less huge. I'm impressed by all the little improvements chrome's made on the basic design.

Also, a digital camera to put in said bag : canon a70.

Well. No exactly cycling related, but I'll be using it to improve my strength. The Mrs. got me a new Gold's Gym weight bench. It is a lot bigger and more stable than my old one. It will be a pleasure to lift on this bad boy.

:( Nothing cycling related this year. But a box is under the tree, which reads: Mallory dual point ignition for my '63 Jaguar XKE (which hasn't been on the road in two years for lack of a new ignition system). Too bad I can't fit a cycle rack on it. ;)

My Santa hubby put a Trek 2300 on layaway for me, so it's part Christmas present, part NewYears present. Will get it out in a couple of weeks probably. I've been a very good lil' squirrel!

I got a Parks Chain Checker tool. A pretty nifty little gadget. It's not an essential tool, but it sure is a lot easier than measuring the links.

I got inspired and wrote 3 short stories.
I got a 1lb bag of DirtRag coffee.
I got a pair of wool DirtRag socks.
I got enough money to renew my DirtRag subscription (Karl will be pleased)
I got to hear my dad sing all the songs off the Folk CD I gave him and hear stories about his band, "The Wanderers," and how they would play Food Festivals for $20 an hour and discount the price for getting to eat. I heard about how they played a small coffeehouse called the "Fickle Pickle" down on Rush and Oak (as he recalls) and how he met "The Brothers Four" in Macomb, IL when they played down there in the early 60s. And by far, these 2+ hours spent with him were the best gift ever.

Very cool! Not being into the standard sappy family stuff-I must admit, after losing my mom to bone cancer in 1997 and not seeing eye to eye on basically anything with my dad... getting to hang out with him all day yesterday so he could see his grandaughter for the first time since she was 4 weeks old(and she's 4 years old now)... was pretty great. Just seeing my daughter look at him and say, "Hi Grandpa, so where have YOU been?! I've been missing you!" and watching my dad well up was a special X-Mas gift and memory.

I got Mr. Wonderful for Christmas. You push a button, and he says things like:

"The ballgame isn't that important. I'd rather spend time with you!"

"Here, you take the remote. As long as I'm with you, I don't care what we watch."

"Aww, can't your mother stay another week?"

"Let's just cuddle tonite."

"You know, Honey, why don't you just relax and let me make dinner tonite?"

"Actually, I'm not sure which way to go. I'll turn in here and ask directions."

I got a set of Park Tool Brushes from my brother (maybe I'll start taking a little better care of things), and a Topeak Alien from my parents. My cousin also decided to save her newspaper baggies for me to use as feet covers in wet weather, after she read about my need on my blog. Thanks to all.

Handlebar : Deda 215 , italian bend ( shallow and non anatomic )
Why is it so hard to find curved bars when so many of the pros use them ?
