Road Cycling - Ciocc vs. Bianchi

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm a long time Bianchi rider whose 2000 Daytona was just stolen. I'd like to go back to steel and am considering either the Bianchi Boron or a Ciocc 12.5, both outfitted with Centaur group. Any perspectives on this would be appreciated.
The Bianchi Borons are very nice bikes. I have ridden them before and they give a super nice ride and still weigh less than typical steel. I belive the Borons run about the 2500 dollar range, but I dont rememeber. I've never heard of Ciocc..

Here is the link. http://www.ciocc.it/
I hadn't heard of them either, but looking at their site they appear to be mostly carbon. I didn't see any steel. Which model were you looking at?

Carbon and aluminum, from my quick perusal.
Thanks. The Ciocc COM 12.5 is a steel frame. I've seen some referred to on other posts on the board, but they only have an Italian website which isn't very informative and doesn't list this model. I've researched it on Wrenchscience.com and my LBS has one that I'll ride after Christmas. They don't have a Boron in stock and I hate to buy something that I haven't ridden.
Ciocc is an established italian frame, not sure of when
they started framebuilding but very popular in late
70's early 80's.
Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either
frame.

When I first started serious riding in the very early 80's Ciocc was my dream bike. I never got one though so I can't really say much, but they were top of the line bikes.

CIOCCc are very cool. The COM 12.5 is made from Dedacciai steel. It is a very nice looking frame. Back in the day CIOCC made some of the finest bikes around. I think they still do. Reparto Corse and I think Bulltek carry them. I want to say a frame goes for around $800.
Hey txtg,
You'll be doing yourself a grave dis-service if you don't take a look at Torelli's selection of steel frames (Both lugged & not). They're the equal of Bianchi or Ciocc.

I just received my new Viner (Italian) bike with com12.5 tubing. It has the new grey Campy Centaur group and looks great. All for under $1,500.
All,
Thanks for all your input on this, especially the Viner. I checked out the website today and they have some cool frames. I got a call today that my Bianchi was found! I picked it up and it's in riding condition. I'm back in Celeste again.

Caadman, I've got a picture but I need to find a way to compress it. It's too large and it won't fit. I'll get it on today.
