Has anyone visited or raced at the Brain Piccolo Park Velo in Cooper City Florida? I plan on attending some races there in Aug./Sept. Any advice?

Near Lauderdale. Nice track and facility located in a park, havn't been there in 10 years so I cant vouch for condition now. Typical 333m track.

I usually ride the road but I go there a couple of times a month to work on sprints. Good track surface.

This saturday is the Florida State Championship scratch race !

Be there or be gay !

=)

race starts @ 7:30 pm.

After I finish school (done in on week) I plan to attend the tues/thurs training nights on a regular basis. I have not been able to attend for a few years due to school....

Hopefully I can focus on it a bit more starting in 2 weeks. I have a brand new track bike ready to break in with omnium cranks + all carbon bits. =)

That velodrome is sweet, a lot of wind too. I like it better than trexlertown PA. To be pavement the miami velodrome is sweet.

Cheers

It's a nice track, and conveniently located. The roads in the surrounding areas are nice to ride on as well. The area's biggest weekly group ride in the area meets only a mile or so up the road.

It's hotter than hell in the summer, and you can usually count on some rain every afternoon, but it's a wonderful place to ride in the winter.

Guys I want to try track riding... does anyone know if there's anything organized going on in the next 2 weeks at this track? Best choice I guess would be an organized cat 5->4 upgrade class but anything would be interesting -- I have never done track before.

There are no sanctioned events going on though?
I looked at various track websites for FL, and many seem not to have been updated since 2007?

I would like to race I guess, not necessarily just ride. But I guess going to go muck around first couldn't hurt.

I don't think there are going to be any races til next year. I was looking into get into racing too. I hear Wed nights are the night to go to find out whats going on and there is a lot of people riding. I am thinking of heading out there tonight to watch for a lil and talk to a couple of people.

Thanks, let me know what you find out. I am going back North shortly, but will be back in early 2010 and probably will have my own track bike at that time. Looking forward to giving this track stuff a try. I just don't want to drive 2 hours (up in Vero Beach here), then find out the park isn't open.

Guys racing @ Brian Piccolo starts THIS Saturday night at 7:30pm. See http://www.broward.org/parks/velodrome.htm for details. I may or may not show up depending on if my regular bars show up in the mail on time. Also it's going to be a cold night...!!
