Hi,

Got my first medal at a district championship after 30+ years of racing.

Last year I was the youngest guy on a 220+ team. This year I was the oldest on a 180+ team. My three teammates raced this division last year and got a bronze with a 54:39. This year we got a bronze with a 51:13. We beat the fourth place team by 11 sec.

Our race wasn't completely trouble-free and I was thinking that I was going to fall off sometime during the last 6 miles (of a 23.5 mile course) but another teammate beat me to it so I was compelled to suffer to the finish. I didn't pull at all over the last three miles or so. :(

Second place beat us by over a minute and first (Amgen Masters) beat us by just under four minutes. BTW, looking at the start list, first was a foregone conclusion.

I did a TT with three guys who I've known for 15 or so years. We did ZERO training together as a team but we have done countless group rides and races with each other. I never felt compelled to come off of the aero bars to be able to use the brakes to modulate my speed. Everyone was smooth and stable. :)
