Hi, I am about to move to France, (am currently living in Philadelphia), and I want to take my bike with me. It's fairly new and it was expensive (to me), and I want to make sure I get it there safe and sound...

When I moved here from the UK, I brought my old bike boxed on the plane with me. However, I have acquired 2 cats over the 5 years I have been here and am taking them back with me. So, I think I need to ship my bike separately so as to not get to the airport and have them tell me it's too much for me to bring everything...

So, my question is, do you think it is safe to ship my bike via mail? Or do you think I should bite the bullet and pay the extortionate fedex charges? Are there other options I am not aware of?

Any help, advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

go with whoever has the best insurance, bikes get damaged alot. a frind of mine shipped fedex and his wheel was tacoed they (fedex) replaced it asap.

I would ship it along with your household goods..... since your company is paying for the move.....

Yes I run a shipping department insure it no mater who you go with I am not sure of the dimensions of the box you put it in but you will probably find that it will be to big for mail (108in lenght+girth)

Thes sites will be the best ones to handle your bike. You will be able to compare rates on their sites you will need to know the value, weight and demensions of the box. I can tell you horro stories about all carriers but a majortiy of packages get through in good shape so go with the best rate and insure it (can't say that enough)

Hi, I was wondering if you've already shipped it or how this was resolved. I am going to bike Ireland and England and then want to ship my bike home to tour the rest of Europe. I'd like to get some idea of how much it will cost to ship back or if anyone has tried this.
