So I'm moving to DC at the end of June and thought I'd see if the good burghers of DC-area BikeForums had any suggestions for notable races or other events that are really worth riding in July, August, or September?

Don't know about races, but plenty of rides.
Potomac Pedalers and the Oxon Hill bike club both have ride schedules posted on their web sites.

PPTC should have the Peach Picker ride around end of July.
PPTC Century is early September.
End of this month they have the Black Hills rides.
The Reston club does the Reston Century end of August.
Civil War Century and Cannonball Century both in September
WABA will have Bike DC in September and the 50 States Ride in October.
