Hi, looking at getting a folding bike for getting to work. I'll have to store the bike in a locker and I'm trying to work out if it will fit. I'm thinking of getting the Brompton M3, which is supposed to be
57x54.5x27cm. My locker measures 45x45cm, so the only way it's going to go is diagonally, and even then it may not work. Essentially it comes down to how wide the bike is (the 27cm width) all the way along, whether it is thinner at the ends of the folded shape or not. It looks like it might just go, but its a very expensive mistake to make if it doesn't.

Can anyone help?

Could you make a box the size of your locker, take that to the Brompton store, and try it? At least give us the third dimension of your locker. I have a strong suspicion, however, that it's not going to work.

The other dimension is not an issue, the locker is 110cm tall and will easily fit the 57cm of the folded bike height. The diagonal of the locker is 63cm versus the folded bike of 54.5 so there is some scope for accommodating it diagonally, just don't want to find out the hard way if it doesn't fit.

rhm, that's a good idea. Just shape a 45cm x 45 cm x60cm square out of cardboard. If the Brommie fits inside, you're golden. One thing to be aware of with lockers is that the door might reduce the actual volume inside if it's too thick.
