Eastern Canada - Favourite Escarpment Climb (ON)

Just wondering if anyone has a favorite escarpment climb in Ontario and why?

For me it's Woolverton Rd in Grimsby. I 've done it so many times biking to school, work, friends houses, and training. Then I was away for university for two years and had no hills even close to that size so, by the time I returned home I really missed it ;) and now I love it even more...granted I go up a little slower.

So, any other recommendations?

If I can get up early enough and leave the house at 5:30 a.m., I ride up the Kenilworth Access to the Sherman Cut, then back down to Charllton Ave., adds some hill to a fairly flat commute to work... A nice ride in the woods, nice view of the city.
Not recommended for later in the day, though....

That would be a nice climb, but i just dont trust the drivers. Too bad they dont have a bike lane though.

Yeah, Wolverton is probably the hardest or McNeilly. Sydenham is a nice climb, just hard enough. I know a guy that would train with doing all the climbs out to Niagara. Very hard.

One of these days I have to attempt an escarpment climb. What's the vertical? A friend recommended Rattlesnake Point - how does that compare?

Is there a good place to park, and is it just the entrance to the park for the rattlesnake point climb?

Interested in trying this one out.

My least favorite climb is Bell School Line. It starts slow and just gets steeper. I'd love to know the grade at the very end.

I'm not sure I understand exactly where Rattlesnake Point is. Google puts it on Appleby Line south of the end of Steeles Ave. Which is the road bike climb - Appleby, where it has a kind of switchback? And is the park the place with the sort of diamond shaped road loop?

The climb on Appleby starts just North of Derry Rd. (yes, the switchbacks on your photo). There is also a false flat leading up to Derry. Here is some video of last year's Provincial RR Championships, which featured the climb:

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I was biking out to Fergus this weekend anyways so I'm going to modify my route a little bit(+8km) so I can try out the Rattle Snake Point climb. :giver:

Not done it too many times, and Hwy 5/Dundas doesn't really count... 50 Rd upto Ridge Road turning into 11th Rd E is a short climb, but hella steep - good for a nice calf burn. At the bottom of this hill you can find some lovely cherry and pear trees, depending on the time of year.
