What do you do with a leftover bike from the mid 80's dirt bike infatuation?
You make it into a single speed hardtail dirt bike, of course, silly.
What started out as a 1986 KHS Lugged steel frame that I had left around from that era that was taking up space in the garage, provided the foundation for the next example of way too much time on my hands. I got some Paul hubs in red and Mavic 517 rims on sale in red, and then it was Shimanoville for the rest of the running gear and Avid v-brakes and Bear Trap pedals and Avocet 32mm Cyclocross tyres. Brooks sprung B-67 Saddle and upright downhill bars on a Nitto Technomic stem make for a easy riding pkg. Paint is Moltini Orange. My wife has taken over this bike as her own and refuses to let me ride it without her permission as I never get the seat height back to where she is used to. She absolutely loves this bike. Ah, the things you do for love!
