I saw this put out by WABA- Washington Area Bicyclists Association and DDOT- District Department of Transportation.
It is on a bus shelter. When I volunteered for WABA a few years ago its members were mostly recreational cyclists. The poster makes it look like WABA is still recreationally oriented. The image of the cyclist could have been a transportaional cyclist with obvious racks and panniers right? Then the poster would also teach people something. But, it is progress to see the department of transportation involved in getting people on bikes isn't it?

Are there really 368 reasons to use a bicycle listed by your organization or did they just pick a number out of thin air and put it on the poster?
Maybe I am not as critical, but I think the poster is fine. In fact great. The point of the message is speed. And they use a blurred roadie. Not to mention that is what many people equate cycling with, in the post Lance era.
If you had replaced that pic with a beater and racks, would it have made a difference? Everything is a blurr anyhow.

Plenty of people commute on road bikes, looks fine.
I'd like the posters better if they had tidbits of specific helpful information.
"Every bus here has a bike rack. This diagram shows how to use them"
"Bus lockers cost $X a month. They are available at the following locations"
"City bike maps are available at all local bike shops at a cost of $X"
"The average bike commute here is X miles round trip and takes about Y minutes"
You get the idea.

True - but you have to be careful. People's attention span is VERY limited, and if there is too much information, they will simply pass by the poster completely, reading ZERO.
I like the posters.

I haven't been involved with WABA for years, I just noticed the one poster on the bus shelter yesterday. I hope they really did develop a list with at least 368 non-trivial reasons.
