I have a 2001 Bianchi Strada that is great. It's basically the same frame as the 2001 Bianchi Volpe. The 2003/4 Stradas have caliper brakes but the Volpes have the cantis so it should be very good for commutes.
I've fitted mine with full fenders, lights, etc.
Also, Babelfish translates Volpe in Italian into Vixen... grrrrrrooowwwl!

My wife also has the Strada. She loves it.
I had the wheels upgraded to Ultegra/Open Pro before delivery. The stock wheels are kinda blah. I also swapped out the tires for Vredstein Fortezzas; and put a good saddle on it. Anyway, she commutes with it; among other things.

Nice STRADA, looks fancy and nicely tricked!
I just didn't know the Strada came with DROP handle bars, wasn't it FLAT?
A LBS has offered me a Volpe for $ 530.00, 2003 model; the price is tempty......

That's a good deal. Aren't they $800 retail?
I built my Strada from the frame up. I wanted a Volpe but I got a great deal on the Strada frame.... Cost more in the end but I love the bike.

I've put nearly 2K miles on my 2002 Volpe, through excessive heat and cold, rain, the works, one tune-up (cringe), no problems.
Great bike, rides like a road bike when you want it to, takes the off-road passages with ease as well. Mine is completely stock except I swapped the nubby tires for Conti top tourers. I even retrieved the original seat after first trading it for a lousy Specialized.
Got mine in early 2002 for $750.

I just got my brand spanky new Volpe 2003 for $ 529.00
, metallic red, blue Bianchi letters, it's beautiful! I'm planning to swap the stock tires for the Armadillos 28C which I already got from my other bike, which by the way I selling on Ebay (hint, hint!)
I couldn't pass up the deal this LBS gave me. Now I got me this nice (Volpe) all around, commuter bike, and on weekends will be riding my Vigorelli which I got from the same guy for 1,099.00
I love these end of year deals, they're more willing to let you take the bike for much less!

Yeah..gotta love those end of the year deals...sounds like you found a good one too and a great bike to boot!! ;) (hehe being half Italian I couldn't resist that joke) I found a Cannondale M700 in near new condition for $300 on eBay with shipping from about 1800 miles away...so am a supporter of buying things on there if ya knwo what you are doing...I almost always stick to Power Sellers, but ones with good feedback I also consider.
