Who's in?
The course looks interesting to say the least. There is an off camber left hand turn that narrows, and has bad pavement that should be fun . There is enough of a hill that my race will get blown up if somebody pushes it enough I want's me a jersey! :D

I'll be there ... heck, I'll even bring my camera.

Sounds like a neat course.

To be fair, there's also a race in Chicago (See chicagobikeracing.com for more info). Someone posted a neat video of that race from last year ... worth a view IMHO - bike cam! *CLICK* (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3098302188538802499&q=sherman+park&ei=iYZOSO3kBKPQ4gLNg7yrDA)

The link to the course preview. The pavement doesn't look as bad as the Superweek course up there though:

They both look bumpy though. That left and then a quick right on the state crit course should be interesting as Frunkin said.

I'm doing Sherman park...There are too few races where I do not need to drive to the course. Ironic how I drive soooo much more (time & miles) just to ride my bike.

repeat - anyone in madison wanna carpool? don't really wanna drive by myself.

Recursive and Frunkin represented Bike Forums well!

They were not just pack fillers, but presented at the FRONT of the pack in their respective races.

Excuse the crummy pictures ... the good stuff will be coming later. I mean good.

But ... WHOA ! ... what's up with the shorts Frunkin?? I didn't notice that in person. Got a story to tell??? :)

Full disclosure: I spent relatively little time anywhere near the front of anything.

But my teammate did win it. Any time I spent toward the front was an attempt to block for his break, which managed to barely stay away.

I got taken out by some guy going for the first prime. Another guy from B&B ran over me. I got back in and finished 12th out of our tiny field. Checking my bike out afterwards I saw that both wheels were knocked really out of true, and had been rubbing the pads since the crash. Basically I'm pissed, but I'll be back next week.

no - i decided not to drive by myself. i am pretty much laid off right now so i'm living as cheap as possible. i rode my ss mtb to blue mound state park from madison - to find the trails closed and get rained/hailed on.

This guy I work with's son apparently won the Cat 4/5 there. Mark Horstmeyer is his name. Rides for UW-Milwaukee. His dad and I talk bikes all the time at work, so much so that we often get each other in trouble for shooting the $hit too long and not getting any work done. He was so geeked that his kid did well out there. I was out in Blue Mounds enjoying the scenery, otherwise I would have trekked up there to cheer him on.

Yeah, he had a solo breakaway. It was really impressive. I had raced with him a few other times, so I knew he was strong, but unfortunately my crash didn't allow me to go with him. I think he took all the primes too.

It was either the 4/5 or the 3's that had the peak spectator count. By the time the Pro 1/2 field finished ... downtown Ripon was a ghost town. While the winner of the 3's got interviewed by the announcer ... the same guy simply unplugged his microphone and walked off the stage when the 2's race finished. http://www.freedomcrowsnest.org/forum/images/smiles/blink.gif

Both the Masters 1/2/3 and Pro 1/2 races were excellent. Very aggressive and tactical. Too bad there wasn't anyone around to watch them. However ... I've got all the photo's to show and I'm not getting out of this chair tonight until I've got them uploading. :)

I raced at 12:50 and there was a nice crowd. (Saw Frunklin and recursive.) After my race I worked corner #3 until midway thru the Pro/1/2 race and John W. was right nobody was there. It was a great race too. 3 guys lapped the field then they sat in until the final lap or so and it was a great sprint finish.

Hah, yeah, nice throw for 13th.

But hell, I'd throw for second-to-DFL. Throwin's just what I do.

Did I just read that on CBR? "Always throw on the line". Kinda like what the official was saying down in Winfield at the ABR races: "We will only ring the bell for a sprint ... if you hear the bell ... sprint! "

Good stuff.
