I posted several days ago about an incident over Memorial Day on an MUP: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=425871

Last night, I was on the same MUP when a rider came up behind me shouting "Mister, hold up a minute." It was the young man who behaved so badly. He wanted to apologize for his behavior. I pointed out that the people he really ought to be apologizing to were the mother and daughter. He lowered his head and nodded yes. He said he's been looking for them, but hasn't seen them. I cautioned him that if he did find them, they may not be eager to interact with him, even for an apology.

Long story short, he knows what he did was wrong and is trying to put it right. I guess you can't ask much more of a person.

Most folks aren't nearly as unreasonable as they seem in the heat of the moment.

When I read stories about people screwing up, then owning their own sh**, it restores my faith in humanity.. :)

It actually takes quite a bit of character to admit to having made a mistake.

I gotta hand it to the young man, that's a quality we seldom see these days.

Guess I'm way too cynical. I find myself wondering - This really happened?

Just read the other post. Glad you knew how to handle it.

Well, d**n. The boy is a decent human after all. I retract my earlier scathing comments.

Wow! I love stories with a happy ending, especially stories of redemption. This boy redeemed himself!

It sounds as if he is an honorable young man. It took some effort to find you and then to catch you and apologiize. My guess is the more he thought about it the worse he felt. It also has to do with the way you handled the original incident. Had you been a jerk back to him he would not have respected you. Its always nice to be nice.

A few days and cooling off left the young man with the example that you set and the fortitude to own his own actions.

I salute you both!
