Head due east ~13 miles until you hit the Lakefront Trail.
There is little in the way of trails in Chicago proper.

You can take the Des Plaines Trail south from O'hare, but that section is pretty on-again, off-again with lots of cumbersome at-grade intersections. The east-west link, if you'll observe, is called "Chicago Boulevards" as in, just plain streets :).
The Lakefront trail has stunning views of the skyline and goes past all the major parks and museums. Its unridable on weekeends though.
Chicago is a pretty good city for riding on streets, and it gets better the closer to the center you get.
it depends on what type of riding you want to do. If you are just commuting downtown from near the airport i would head east to elston and take that in. It has a nice wide bike lane.
also this might help.
