Should I join a team?

So I'll be in Bay Area for the summer, more specifically San Jose. Right now I am on the SoCal collegiate team with a slogan "Yes we do have a cycling team". Should I join a team while I am in NorCal?

Things I am looking for.
People who actually race in CAT4 (since that is what I race).
Local or semi local to San Jose. With gas prices going up, up, up carpooling to a race 60+ miles away sure would be nice. (main reason I would consider joining the team actually)

Alto Velo or Los Gatos. Third Pillar maybe? You could just find out what mailing list or forum they use and see about catching rides that way. Joining the club for 3-4 months may not be worth the dues.

and then there's the obvious -- San Jose Bike Club. a good group of guys with a fabulous winter race series and a great summer crit series.

there are lots of reasons to join a team. carpooling is just one of them. if you're just looking for folks to carpool with, you can join lots of various club email groups (without joining the club) and find carpoolers that way.
