I had my window broken today and car next to me did too. They apparently took purse out of other car but did not find my wallet. :D
It cost me 230 for a new window though. I was at the main rail to trail trailhead in north Puyallup when this happened.

Man that hacks me off. My wife and I ride that all the time. I never leave anything valuable in the truck. My bikes might look dorky with the racks and bags but I take wallet and keys with me

That sucks. I just had my car keyed recently, never had any vandalism/theft before. The keying was very very minor (less than a silver dollar-sized area) but on 3 different panels. Insurance claim time. It honestly doesn't bother me as much as I always thought it would; maybe because the damage is so minor I don't feel so violated. But still over $2k to repair, it just makes me wonder who would bother to make such a tiny amount of damage.

That what I was told that parking area is a no no as too many cars got broken into. I always park downtown Orting where it's better and less chance of car getting broke into. I start from Orting head to South Prairie Creek.

This is why I drive my Jeep Wrangler whenever I'm parking on trailheads or at camping areas. You'd think that urban parking lots have the most car-prowls, but no it is actually trailheads and state parks and such. Jeep has no trunk or any place to hide anything really. And it has NO ROOF. :D Or sides for that matter: just a tub on wheels with an engine and two front seats. I don't leave anything inside. People can just reach inside and see for themselves that there's nothing to take. If they want to steal the whole thing... well it is insured.

When I park at trailheads for a few days' hike/camping trip, I leave my Jeep unlocked and cleared of anything except the spare oil and washer fluid in a milk crate in the back. I always put a sign on the driver's window: "Vehicle not locked. No valuables inside."
I came back from a 3 day trip once to a second sign inside my Jeep: "Lock your car, dumb***. I took the change from your ashtray." (He really did, too. Must have lived like royalty off that 30 cents.)

Perhaps he was living IN the Jeep for the days you were gone :roflmao: !

Not unless he brought his own food. My emergency stash of Clif Bars and bottled water was untouched. I think it's funny that somebody took 30 cents from my ashtray, but didn't touch my $200 CB radio. I guess having a CB just isn't cool any more.

Well, I would have certainly stolen at least the Clif bars and bottled water. I don't know about the CB, because I don't know how to use one of those, but I do know how to eat and drink  .
