Hi there. I am new to these boards and practically brand new to cycling. I posted a question about rim-drive trainers in the Training forum.
I know next to nothing about bicycles, except how to make them go and stop and stuff like that. But I really like riding the rail-to-trails in my area, and I'd like to learn more....
I suppose want to know about the equipment. I have a Specialized Crossroads Comp, which is comfy and nimble enough for me. I live outside of Philadelphia, so I bike around Valley Forge, Downingtown and the River trails. Mostly paved, some packed gravel. My only extra is a Cyclometer--so I know when it's time to turn around!

Howdy, lyz2814 and welcome to the forums. Sounds like you live in a fun area of the country...well historic anyway. :) As far as your question on components goes, do look at the different posts on them on here, and another good site I love to go to for reviews on things is www.mtbreview.com , which is like a Consumer Reports guide for MTB (that is, MounTainBike) riders (and has other components there too) of reviews of products written by fellow cyclists, like recently I reviewed the cyclecomputer on my mountain bike (Enduro 2). I usually take the reviews written by those who have used the product for a month or less with a grain of salt, especially when looking at saddles, as sometimes it takes awhile for one to get used to a part, just as it does when getting a new car that you have only test driven.
