So that means Grumpy can hammer away on the first?

Yeah... You are usually the one the starts the hostilities, I'm just trying to keep up in your wake. Remember the first part of Poway? I was just looking for a nice century ride and BOOOM, there goes Grumpy in the big ring up Poway road.

Yeah, don't be. Grumpy is in the faster groups. My fastest century is only 15.x mph and that was during the good times. Now I'm not sure I can achieve that; so still debating whether to just do 50 miles. :p

No. That's already been settled. See you at 8AM.

excluding stopping for lights, what do you expect the average pace will be. When I ride the SDBC A ride the average is slightly under 19 mph for the 45 mile loop. Are you guys going to flog it, or kick back and average 17 to 18 mph? I don't want to be a whiner....it is too hot, too slow, too fast

Umm.. well slower than that actually. More like 15 mph for the century I would think.

I get dropped on SDBC B rides; so if you can keep up with A's, you should not have any trouble with this one... unless you find us too slow. :)

On previous rides, some faster riders will form their on fast group and ride ahead of the main pack; regrouping at rest stops.

mmm...being on my commuter/mountains bike, I don't know if I'll be able to hold 15mph the whole ride...

though I can't really say, I don't have an effing speedo meter.

I thought I was gonna do the whole thing, but I'm entirely too sore from this week. So I'm only going to do the second half...sorry my peoples.

it could have been worse, but he's actually in REALLY good shape for having fallen that much.

if you don't pray...meh.

Looks like I'm going to have to drop out too. Girlfriend's orders.

My knee pain started back up the other day after just 18 miles or so, so she won't let me go tomorrow. Have fun, I wish I could be there.

Maybe next time...

yeah...now I'm kinda glad I didn't go...I would've stuck out like a sore thumb...on my moutain/commuter bike and all of you looking shnazzy in your road gear on your road bikes.

and in other good news, my son is doing great!

after a 25 foot fall out of our second story condo window (I'm looking into building codes and lawyers possibly), and only fracturing his orbital bone, a slight basular skull fracture and a lacerated spleen, the ONLY thing he wants is to come home with me and mommy...he has like one more day left at Rady's Children's Hospital and then he should be coming home either tomorrow or the day after.

It's odd to think of the extent of your son's injuries and think of it as good news, but it really is given what could have happened. Amazing news really :o

And it's true - no one here actually cares what gear you have if you love to ride.

Excessive alchohol consumption tends to do that.
