I love that book. Quite melodramatic, but that's what makes it great! Oh, if you've seen the movie..eh.

great book, pat conroy is a great story teller,the movie, not so much,could be one ot the worst i've seen

It's been a few years, but Conroy has written worse stuff. What of the movie I remember was that the most melodramatic elements of the book were amplified and it ended up turning into a love letter from Barbara Streisand to Barbara Streisand.

Haha, I thought the movie was moving. Tom's character did an excellent job.

the movie was dreck...the book was a fun potboiler.
