Okay, so my new friend in one gear terror just picked up a new frame today...FROM YOJIMBO'S (yup - he did his part!)! It is a DeBernardi Thron. We are slowly building it. I am showing Skitbra the finer subtleties of mixing frame and parts to get a sexy, sexy bike. Observe larval stage below (more pics to come as the bike grows):

"Bike parts in the Nordstrom bag..."

I've heard the Yves Saint Laurent bottom bracket is exquisite.

"I've got my Boche bag and I'm set!"

Is this a fad from Nordies? Fixed gear bikes and diesel hoodies?

you'll have to let us know how the de bernardi rides, I was thinking of replacing my frame with one next year and would be interested to know, that's looking like one nice bike...

Almost done... Ran into a problem with the front brake. Tire won't clear it and as a result, rubs. Any suggestions?

So how much was the frame?

smaller tires, or run w/o brakes. track bikes have very close tolerances...

Get ready to cring, grind a little material from the section of the brake that rubs. How bad is it?

I run a recent gereration Campy Chorus caliper on a very tight fit Cinelli frame and it works. See if you can get one at a shop to try on the frame before you buy it.

So how much was the frame?

It was about 550 with prepping stuff. But it came it with a few chips, so Marcus, being the righteous guy that he is, gave me the Yojimbo's sale price of 25% off.

Thanks everybody who gave brake advice. Will let you know what works and will post final pic. Stay tuned.

Here's the final photo. She rides well, and breaking in the Brooks has not been nearly as bad as I thought it may be.

So how did ya'll solve the brake clearance issue?

The break problem remains a bit touchy but workable. I have yet to break down and file away at it. I tightened up the breaks a great deal which led to the break hunching up more inside itself, thus providing more clearance. This also made for better breaking. I don't claim to be a break genius. They have not been my friend since I put together my first bike (a race/freestyle hybrid BMX), when I was in junior high. Nevertheless, they're doing the trick now.

1,001 apologies, but I just can't take it anymore. It's BRAKE. Okay, I feel better.
