I am currently in the market for a rear bike rack. Something simple for the daily ride, so that I will not have to wear a backpack. My question is, is there a rear bike rack that mounts to both the frame near the cassette and attaches itself to the rear seat post. I have seen on a friends Bianchi that some frames come with pre-drilled holes for racks near the seat. However, my current bike does not have these holes, and I am a bit weary about putting holes in the frame. I have seen rear bike racks that attach to only the rear seat post, but they can only hold roughly 20 pounds, which is not adequate for my uses. I appreciate any suggestions.

If your bike lacks threaded eyelets for rack bolts you can use P-clamps: plastic coated band of metal that you wrap around the seatstay and fix with a bolt to the rack. They are not as solid as eyelets but better than seatpost racks. Any good bike shop will have them.

Though spendy, you can find racks that attach to the axle as well. Old Man Mountain comes to mind.

Thanks for the advice, I figured there had to be some way of having a stable rear rack that could hold more than 20 pounds.:thumb:
