Foo - Crazy lady!!! (RANT)

Today I was riding home after my work out at 8 am. I notice this big caddy coming up behind me and she was going slow (THATS A WARNING).As I kept an eye on her. I see a person walking on the street ahead. The caddy gets up to me and BLAST on her horn.I wave her buy and she comes with in inches of me.So I flip her the bird, So then I yell at the person walking ahead. LOOK OUT!! THAT LADY CAN'T DRIVE. She jumps out of the way as the caddy just misses her.

Here is the thing that still has me scratching my head the person walking starts yelling all kinds of %^&#@ at me as get off the road.I stop and tell her I just saved your @$$ from being run over by that car. Then she starts again about how she will call the cops. Disgusted I just rode away.

Is this person whacked out? or am I just missing something here.

(Conditions)This a 4 lane road with zero traffic at that time of day and sunny.

Sorry I just had to vent.

I feel your pain... Dec. 23rd my wife, me and our daughter go out to buy our X-Mas tree. On our way back home-this is in our car-with the tree sticking out of the trunk of our car we get stuck in traffic. There is a car behind us, car in front of us and parked cars beside us. A car beside us has people in it getting ready to pull out from the curb, while we're in traffic inching forward they our now mostly behind us off to the side as they haven't been able to pull away from the curb. They start blowing their horn, no traffic is moving AND the car behind us(in the road)is about 12 inches behind us BUT still the parked car keeps blaring their horn and then... BOOM! They run right into our back, rightside bumper. Hard enough it jolts us forward about 2 inches with my foot firmly on the brake. I turn around and flip off the driver and I can see it's a car load of older folks all decked out for church or some holiday event. I can also see because of my brake lights reflecting off their faces that they are all laughing. That really gets me pi(@ed off.

Finally the traffic starts moving and the street goes from 2 to 4 lanes and at the next light they pull up beside me so I steer our car inbetween the car in front of us and their car, with about a 1/16th inch clearance between the side of our car and their car and roll down the passengers side window to have a word with the driver. It's a quite old woman and she puts down her window as well. I yell something about her needing to learn how to drive and that perhaps the time has come for using public transportation and she looks right at me and yells, "I was beeping my horn to let you know I needed out of the parking space and you didn't move! I have rights you know!" How could I move to let her in-a car in front of me, a car behind me and she was off to my right rear when she started beeping and... traffic was STOPPED.

I suppose she thought you somehow responsible for the driver's actions. In a dodgy (nyuk!) situation her prejudice came to the fore; another cyclist causing mayhem playing in the street. I'd bet she had other occasions to berate cyclists, for real or imagined infractions.

Based on my experience, older drivers are dangerous - most especially old ladies. They rank right up there with mothers in minivans/SUVs.

I had an old lady come so close to me that the side of her TownCar wiped my calf. She just kept looking straight ahead from under her stearing wheel and kept driving on.

She was wearing those big black all-sided sunglasses that look like a dark movie screen wrapped around the face of the wearer- do you know the ones I am talking about?

The good ending is that within moment, I found a parked cop and told him what happened. He chased her with his lights blaring for five blocks before she noticed him and pulled over.

Maybe she was going to the liquor store or to get her meds, but she sure did not belong on the road.

You will never be dissapointed in underestimating the intelligence of people behind the wheel of any powered vehicle.

Years ago, there was a Disney cartoon about one guy, but two distinct personalities. Mr. Walker was a kind, sweet man who wouldn't even step on an ant. Mr. Driver, on the other hand, was a mean, nasty, snarling beast. The transition occurred as soon as Mr. Walker's butt hit the driver's seat.

At the time, I wasn't more than 10 years old, I thought it pretty funny. But I didn't realize until later how true it was.

Personally, I think young men, from 18 through 30 are more dangerous.

I think I needed 2 cops at this point.One to apprehend the driver and the pedestrian.
I still can't belive a person can be so mad at me for saving her life.

I agree, older drivers can be a menace, but just as bad are young teenage boys hotrodding in their parent's SUVs. They could run you over like a squished squirrel and not even care!

Once, though, I was actually on the bike path, where you see all kinds of stupid behavior. One is cyclists (rather, inexperienced bike riders who have no clue) looking off into the distance at the scenery while they wobble right into your lane. One stupid girl with her boyfriend was doing just that and I would have collided with her had I not yelled at her to WATCH OUT! SO her halfwit boyfriend imitates me. I should have just followed him and whupped him upside his head, the jerk. Gee, maybe it would have been better for me to crash right into your stupid girlfriend! I suspect had I just been another Weekend Biker on a beatup old junky bike, they wouldn't have been pissed at me, but of course I'm a "snotty roadie", etc.
