General Cycling Discussion - Dreaming about cycling

I have been having dreams about cycling since about the time I started riding my bike again around this time last year. Last night I dreamed that I went into a LBS to buy a beater bike. It wasn't pretty, but I got a really good deal on it. It was a fixed gear bike that was able to pedal backwards. I remember showing the bike store owner my ablitity to track stand (this is not something in real life that I've acquired the ability to do very well).

When I was driving for most of my transportation needs I know for sure I wasn't dreaming about cars.

It's funny you should mention dreaming about cycling. About a week ago, Lance Armstrong was in my dream! I don't remember much about it except that we were talking about baseball. He said he was a big Red Sox fan and I said, "hey, me too!". Which is true. And I thought, why would he be a red sox fan? He's not even from the Boston area! Wouldn't he be a Rangers fan?

That's about all I remember from the dream. I have heard that Armstrong is indeed a baseball fan.

Getting a little worried. Usually not one to remember my dreams. But lately, my cycling dreams, which are becomming increasingly frequent, I remember. Often about me doing really well in a race or once, i got on a pro team. Shoudl I be worried. I am too old to think about pro teams. maybe some kind of early mid- life thing?

I don't think I've ever remembered a single dream in my life.

Your single, you get to bike everyday, you just finished school, you live in a beautiful country, you have a good boss, wind and hills don't get you down.......

Sounds like your living your dream.

The magpies and the leeches are for the nightmares.

I just keep dreaming about getting a new bike and it is driving my wife crazy! :)
And for the time being at least it is only a dream, but if I try really hard and make a wish on that first star....who knows:D

This morning I was dreaming about cycling with my wife in Eastern Kentucky. I saw the sign that said 11 miles to Paintsville, and I decided to take that route. In real life I've never been to that part of Kentucky, and I doubt I'd be able to get my wife more than 2 miles away from our house (in Central Kentucky) on her bicycle, but it was still a nice dream. I know why I had the dream. Last night I was watching Coal Miner's Daughter for the umpteenth time, and Loretta Lynn grew up right outside of Paintsville. That would be some really good hill riding.

I am sort of like Chris L.--I forget my dreams pretty easily!

But I dream during the daytime, all too often about cycling. Once again, I have to agree that I never dream about driving: period.

I've had a recurring biking dream for 30 years. In my dream I ride home from school, except this time it isn't elementary school it is the U. Now I'm working to make the dream real next spring. It will be my first century. I call it my "Alma Mater to Mater" ride.

Jean, I hope your dream comes true. A 100 miler is not all that hard. It can be intimidating, but it's not that hard. Try to think of it as a FUN ride. Don't put too much pressure on yourself about time. Drink plenty of liquids and eat lots of energy foods. The "Alma Mater to Mater" will be a wonderful experience and a dream come true.

I dreamt that I swerved to miss a dog walking in the road and I wound up right in front of an oncoming car. It was like one of those dreams of a sudden fall...

He was a black and white speckled mutt. If I ever see him in real life, I'm just gonna stop and let him cross.
