...squirrell, ...rabbits, turkey vultures...that's all I can think of right now....
And those are just the other cyclists or cars.
Yesterday Mr. Wiswell saw a 14 inch snapping turtle right on the MUP (lightly used MUP). That was a first.

Way too many deer around here, see the occasional duck, rabbit, squirrel, etc
Squirrell by the millions, turtles by the dozens, a few snakes, some rabbits and one deer. As for birds, I don't pay a lot of attention to them except for vultures. Those tend to circle above my head near the end of really long rides.
My local MUP has a sign saying you could find bears... I've never seen one... I don't wanna find one either.

To all of the above add, woodchucks and muskrats. Turkeys are probably the most common "unusual" animal I see. Many of them live in the arboretum here in Madison and I see them very frequently on the road.

Last summer near Tomahawk WI, I rolled up on a black bear eating berries on the side of the road. When I hit my brakes to stop the bear came on to the edge of the road. I think by the look on his face that he could not figure out what I was. After what seemed like a long time (probably a minute) a truck came over the hill, and the bear bolted through the trees.
It was about that time that I remembered that I had my camera in my back pocket.

Ha Ha. I call him an alien. Rumor has it you didn't want a whole lot of his climbing recently. ;) I have beat him on a few tiny climbs on our Tuesday rides and planned to challenge him soon, and then I fell down and went boom.
alot of rabbits on fox river trail.
one time i saw pink elephants. mind you, this was during a Chicago Critical mass last year...

Yesterday morning my wife and I decided to ride before work. So we went of on our 15-mile loop about 6am. As we were returning down a country road, there is a house that usually has chickens, geese, and other birds outside. I heard a strange noise and looked up. In the driveway, there was a Chevy Suburban with a roof rack. Standing on top of this roof rack was a HUGE bird, watching us as we road by. If I had to pick what it was, I'd say maybe a peacock. It had a bright blue head/neck. Seeing the bird was not nearly as surprising as seeing the bird perched atop the Suburban.

Nothing unique to add: turtles, a few possum (roadkill-style), white-tailed deer, mallards, tons o' canadian geese, heron, bunnies by the million, hawks, and a bald eagle. The most interesting species I usually see on a ride is the not-so-elusive fred around here.

Short climbs are one thing.
But I climb like a manatee. Wait, does that count? It's an animal.

Elk-of course they're in a fenced in area at Busse Woods, in ELK grove, of all places. Saw a vole today. No, not a mole. Look it up.

I'm trying to figure out your apostrophization rules. I'm stumped.
And randy the recumbulator rocks my region.

Unusual sightings for me so far this spring: Pair of bob white quail (I haven't seen quail in decades)
5 fox kits (babies) at their den, I have never seen a baby fox except on the National Geographic channel.
And a box turtle, been a long time since I saw one of those also.
Usual sightings: Rabbits, deer, ground hogs and squirrels. The last one of which ran out into the road and couldn't make up it's mind which way it was going. I did what seemed right and aimed right for it. The squirrel dodged left then at the last microsecond dodged back. I ran over it with both wheels at about 15 mph. I stayed upright amazingly and the squirrel was last seen diving into the bushes.

There's one spot just across the border in WI where you have to peak down the drive and through the fence to see lions, tigers, elephants, etc. There are a couple of bison farms around here and I've seen ostrich someplace locally, but cannot remember where. The llama/alpaca type critters are quite common. Other than that, it's just the coyote, deer, skunk, and chipmunk kind of things in the ‘wild’. Sand Hill cranes, once severely threatened, are getting quite common.

BTW - They are Canada geese, not Canadian (though they may be that, too, I guess).

Odd this question is asked just today. We got back from a 1000 foot climb over the Sea. In route, we passed a donkey pulling a cart full of tourists. It was a steep grade. Was thinking can they still fit a bike and cyclist in the back of their cart.

This week it was Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Mallards, Red Wing Blackbirds, turtles, loads of frogs or toads, and a couple of muskrats in wetlands near Matteson, IL. Lots of deer at dusk near Lansing, IL. Squirrels, and chipmunks all over the place.
Today I saw baby turkeys.
An unusual one the other day was a pair of big swans with a couple young offspring following behind. Now that's something to stay clear of; geese are bad enough for being aggressive, but swans...
A Badger on a hot Century ride of all things. Geese,Ducks, rabbits, squirrels,Herons, turtles, snakes of all kinds, deer, Swans. Can't think of anymore.
Let's see.. on my normal Paint Creek Trail trainig ride in Oakland County, MI... I see:
Turtles, deer (usually two or three, lately with fawns), garter snakes, once a Massasauga rattler, woodchucks, ducks, geese, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and usually, before I hit the trail, opposum and/or raccoon road kill.
And there's this homeless guy who has a bike and camps out along the trial each night during the summer, too.

I see quite a few deer riding by the park at night. I have seen turkeys before and I usually see a couple raccoons. When Im going to work I yell at the squirrels to stay on the curb and not get in my way.
