I thought I would make a post here on this bike forum, about a completely new type of lighting system for a bike, based upon the new Luxeon Star LED technology. This bike light is a hand made custom creation, not something in production. The only thing of it's kind in the world (for now).
This new bike light system based upon the new, remarkably bright 3 watt Luxeon Star LED. I modifed two Tri-Star LED flashlights, of which each uses three 3 watt LEDs. Each LED produces a super bright 72 lumens. Even one of these LEDs is more than adequate for a bike light, but this system has a total of six 3 watt LEDs. I'll be putting one of these two lights up on eBay shortly. You can find it on eBay by doing a search on 'Luxeon' and 'Bike'.
One of the Tri-Star bike lights will produce 216 lumens, and will run for about 8 hours on a set of 4 nimh D cells. Battery life can vary based upon type of batteries used.
