The GMSR is now a time based stage race. They're also putting in an ITT and taking out the mass start hill climb.

GM = Green Mountain?

Indeed. Green Mountain Stage Race -> http://www.gmsr.info/

In my opinion, the best race in all of New England.

As for the change:

The first change will be on Friday. Instead of our traditional mass start hill climb we will have an ITT this year. This will be held on a totally new course which will give you a new perspective of the Mad River Valley. The planned course consists of a rolling climb, a wicked fast rolling section that is slightly down hill, ending with a big dip then a short wall transitioning to a less steep short climb to the finish. The planned course is 5.8 miles long. I am sure this course will have you feeling fast and spent by the end.
The second change is that the GMSR will be scored on time this year instead of on our usual point system. Many racers have asked that we score the race on time and we felt that since we were running an ITT it made sense to do so this year.
As a result of these changes we will be starting the event at approximately 8:30 AM on Friday (8/29) and going until 5:00 PM for our last starters. We are still determining which fields will be starting earlier and will provide this information in the next few weeks.
We are very excited to be able to bring you these changes which we hope will keep the GMSR both challenging and fresh while giving racers with different skills a chance to pull on the leader’s jersey. Keep an eye out for additional information about the new ITT course as well as start times via e-mail and at www.gmsr.info <http://www.gmsr.info> .

Bumpity.

Why did they go to a time trial? A mass start hill climb sounds a lot more exciting than the snooze fests known as ITTs.

GMBC (the club that puts the race on) was having logistical issues with the original courses.

Was it supposed to be a mass-start up Bolton? Thats effing sadistic...

GMSR is the best race in New England though, no question about it.
