Not sure why it was, but the commute yesterday sure seemed a lot louder than usual. Part of it was the commute, because of the SSE wind, was under the flight pattern of Minneapolis International Airport. But, there was also this "noise." I thought back to the first few days after 9/11 and the cancel of any and all flights. That silence was really different. So this noise was like a complete oppsite of that. Not sure what the low level grinding sound is/was. Even traffic seemed louder.

When I first began commuting I found the noise of traffic unnerving, having been used to the anesthetic buffer of an automobile. I think that's why I no longer enjoy driving quite as much; it's as if my senses are numbed.
There are days that seem more intense. Traffic noises seem louder, the terrain of pavement harsher. I've attributed much of this to the quantity and quality of sleep I've gotten, and perhaps my own willingness to ride. There are mornings when I must goad myself into riding, which is strange because within five minutes I usually would rather be doing nothing else. (It's very gratifying to me on those occasions when, as so seldom happens, my body goes where my mind dictates!)

Sound travels further when you are under a high pressure weather system (more air molecules for the sound to travel through). Sounds that may be drowned out under low pressure were likely traveling further, effecting you hearing.
How's that sound?
ehenz :)

SCIENCE!
She blinded me with science.
No, I wasn't drinking, I haven't had a mood or mind altering chemical, other than the ones a good ride will produce, coursing through my body for almost 17 years. But the lack of sleep and the pressure of a high or low system seems logical. Seeing as how the day before I had agreed to work a double, and that put me at a loss of sleep, and goading myself into riding. The weather has taken another change, with a strong wind out of the south, bringing with it moisture, and sound does travel better over water.
She blinded me with science.
