So now that it is summer, it is usually time to log in miles every day that you wish. However in our great state of Wisconsin it seems as if its either a torrential downpour of rain with tornadoes, or it is below 50 degrees. I do not mind biking in rain, except when it is everyday, and the days off it is so cold that i have to wear so many layers that are not neccessary in June. So my question to you. How are you dealing with riding in this weather?

Reading the forums, and praying for good weather on Saturday for the Horribly Hilly. I've used my trainer a few times in the last couple weeks (in my basement that hasn't flooded- yet.)

What rain. I got home yesterday and watched the storm split in half a little north and a little south of me. I took the bike out for an hour, staying within two miles of home just in case it rained. Looks like 10% chance of rain for Saturday lets hope there right.

Threat of rain had me on the spin bike last night, took today off and watched this stuff roll in. Pretty impressive, glad the real heavy stuff stayed south of us.
Haven't missed many days on the road. But I'm pretty sick of riding into a 15mph+ (gusting to 20-something) wind from some direction every day.
Good training tho.

There's always the faithful trainer. Many of the routes around here cross rivers ... THAT's a problem!!

Biking past a tornado siren which started going off when I approached it last night was pretty cool. The weather hasn't stopped me from biking, I just switch to a bike with fenders and the rain is warm enough now I don't need rain gear.

That's fine and dandy ... but when there's 3 to 4 feet of water on the road ... :p

There are so many popular routes that are just not possible right now ... ugh!

I wouldn't be suprised if the Kicker and the ***** Century routes will have to massively be altered. The Kicker starts and ends at Wildcat Mountain State Park, whose entrance road has been washed out by the recent rain. I didn't do the Kicker last year, but I know they had to alter the course last year due to floods too. Baraboo is flooded. I'm lucky though, I live in the city which privately worship Satan, Madison.

From what I've heard so far, the HHH course is ok but expect debris (sand, gravel, leaves, branches) on the roads - My information though was before last nights 'bout of storms.

I rode through this spot two days ago and it was dry. The path itself here is pretty bad and has a nasty kicker that if you don't see ... will send you *sky-ground-sky-ground* over the bars. This morning I wanted to go through again, but the water is up to the bottom board as seen above. There were some kids wading through the water, and they were mid-thigh. Some kids just never grow up ... eh, Hip? :roflmao2:

So, I'm not in WI, but im in the neighborhood and we've been experiencing the same thing (although I will say last sunday I was driving across WI on 94 and drove through exactly 148 miles of pouring rain... you're definitely getting hit harder).

Fortunate for me, I've had to be off my bike for a week because it was in the shop and I was on vacation, but Monday night's drowner caused some damage during our bike festival (http://minnbikefestival.com/Gallery/Videos/VideoPlayer/tabid/143/VideoId/7/Nature-Valley-Grand-Prix-08-Stage-1.aspx).

Instead, I've been in spin class. Blegh.

US 94 between Milwaukee and Madison is CLOSED between 26 and 83. BIG backups. Side roads jammed.

Plan accordingly!

I'm going to have to plot a new course for Minnesota on Sunday.
