How do I set up the Garmin Forerunner 305 for two different bikes (road bike and tri bike)? I have a Garmin GSC-10 Speed/Cadence sensor for each bike. Under the set-up screen in the Garmin Forerunner 305, it has 3 bike profiles which I can customize.

How does the Garmin Forerunner 305 determine which bike I am using? Is this done automatically? Or whenever I switch between the road and tri bike, then do I need to manually rescan for the GSC-10 speed/cadence sensor so the Garmin Forerunner 305 can detect the corresponding sensor? And if so, then does the Garmin Forerunner 305 automatically assign one sensor to bike 1, and another sensor to bike 2, or must I do that manually?

You have to tell the garmin by selecting settings -> bike settings and then select which bike you are using. The speed and distance covered can either be calculated from the gsc 10 or from GPS; you can have the garmin use either, but I choose GPS if I am outside.
You also have to select accessories and have the headunit restart scan every time you mount it on a new bike so it can sync with that bike's gsc 10. Make sure you are at least 30 feet away from the other cadence unit or it will tell you multilpe modules are found.

Much easier is to press and hold down the mode button, a menu will appear allowing you to choose which bike. Took be a while to find that one. :)

Oops, just realized I'm thinking of the Edge, could the Forerunner be the same?

I don't think the Forerunner does that, but I'll try it when I get home this evening.
