So I have finally convinced my wife that I will need a better bike if I am going to start commuting to work. (22 miles RT) I am seeking some input on bike choice. My LBS has a 2007 Trek 7.2FX 25" on sale for the same price as an '08 7.1 22.5". I am 6'4 and 300+ with a longer torso. When I sat on the 22.5 I felt like I was a bit cramped and sitting to upright. I haven't been able to try the 25" yet they need to get it sent in from another store. What I need to know is what are the possible consequences to riding a frame that may be a little to big.
Thanks for all of your help.

I'm 6'5, 315 and my inseam is only about 32.5", so I'm mostly torso as well. I ride a 22" Kona Cinder Cone and a 62cm Kona Jake. For me, the top tube length is the most important factor. I've always had to sacrifice standover clearance for proper fit when riding. I have not ridden the 7.2 or 7.1, but did have a 22.5" Trek 3700 that I hated because of a top tube that was too short.

Better to err on the side of too small rather than too big because it is easier to modify the former with a longer stem and seatpost setback if needed.
And yeah, you might want to shop other brands. Each company offers a slightly different fit.
Thanks for the replies, I am going to go try out a couple of other models as well.
