So I have been planning on building an electric bike that I can ride to the train, and take the train to work. I am now thinkng about putting a small gas engine on a bike instead.

Does anyone know of any kits? Something that would sit on the rear rack, and be pretty quiet, pretty light weight, and pretty stealth (I don't want a big, ugly engine out there for everyone to see- I'd prefer it be hidden in some sort of case or something).

Any ideas?

Golden eagle bike engines. I've owned a kit in the past, but now looking to make the change to electric. The kingsmotorbikes kit is absolutely junk.

"Don't buy a CHEAP China made engine like the Four Cycle or two cycle engines being sold. They are not worth messing with."

I like how the put the engine on a CHEAP NEXT bike.

You don't identify where you live, but many states/provinces define a motor bike as a bike with a motor and insist on license, registration and insurance for such vehicles.

Oh, and by the way, gas engines can't be stealth, because they make way too much noise.

Staton sells weed wacker motor setups that mount on the rear rack. They are reputed to be reliable and work well. Not particularly stealthy. Is gasoline allowed on the train?

lol ontario laws, ill be glad when i can move out of ontario. ontario's turning into crack head central.

ontario's laws are old and need to be changed.

Since there are no border guards you are free to leave at any time.

Turn the lights out when you leave and slide the key under the door.

The OP is considering his options, one of which is an electric bike.

How about using a 200 Watt razor electric motor with the razor wheel friction driving the rear wheel to provide a little help while you pedal. My guess you would need change the razor wheel to a larger diameter to accomadate the higher speeds. Put the battery pack in sling from the top tube, not on the rear rack.
