i currently own the 2008 deore LX M580 rapidfire shifters and i love the way the 2-way release works, i dont have any complaint whit these part but resently i saw the new 2008 XT m770 shifter and it looks good.
is there any real diference between these two ?? am i gonna notice the difference if i make the change?? on the shimano site says that the xt has something called instant release .how does it work?? is that instant release reason enough to make the change??
thanks

If it ain't broke...save yer money. Though, my personal tastes lie in "archaic" technology (6 speed friction shifting ;) ). Best case scenario, you fork out some money and have slightly improved shifting. Worst case, you fork out some money and you like your old shifters better. Personally, I wouldn't bother.

Save your money. If you didn't have shifters already i'd tell you to buy XT depending on your application, but you do.
