Hey guys I've got one of these http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2462. It works great with my DIY 20 watt halogen. Only I just got a really nice front rack and bag to hold the battery in... but it barely fits, and stretches the bag in a way that bothers me.

So I need a battery more like this http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2302 which will fit into the bag nicely. But I don't have the cash to buy one right now. And besides, I have this perfectly good battery sitting here.

So: Has anyone taken one of these apart? And does anyone know if I might be able to rearrange the cells, more like the second example above, and wrap them back up? Thought I might try it before springing for another battery. Of course as with all DIY projects, it would be a heck of a lot easier if someone who's been there could advise.

Thanks. DanO

I'm pretty sure if you opened up one of the bottles you'd find something that looked like this one:

And all of the connections should be welded inside of the wrap. I've seen them mention several times that they weld everything. I suppose you could solder them with reasonably good results, but you risk ruining a nice battery pack.

just thinking you might be able to mount the battery on the handle bar without modifying:

not sure if that works for you, but...
