Mountain Biking - no giant nrs3 in America

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
anybody know why there are no giant nrs3 in 2004?
This is my 2004 Giant NRS3, he took airplane from Taiwan to United States, but there are only 2004 Nrs2 and nrs air here, he is so lonely----

I read it was because of a patent infringement, although I thought they had worked it out. Apparently not <shrug>

I don't quite understand what do you meant, where do you read the article?

beipp,
Sorry, my mistake, it was the NRS4, not the NRS 3, that wasn't / isn't being sold in America until a licensing agreement to use the Horst link rear suspension is in place. My information was from a back issue of some cycling magazine, I tried to find it for you, but had no success.
Do you have any idea how many old bicycle magazines I have? I sure didn't until I went looking for this information ;)
By the way, sweet bike. It must be a pleasure to ride it!

I thought the frame was identical on all the NRS bikes? Why would liscensing restrict the 3, but not the 2,1 and air?
i agree with iamlucky13, that meant somebody has to find out the magazine----hahaha:p
Other than the new carbon, all NRS frames are identical but for paint. The carbon is identical in geometry and functional design.
For 2004, Giant merely reduced the number of NRS models offered in the USA and last year's NRS 3 is now updated a little and called the 2.
All NRS frames indicate the settlement with Specialized (which bought the patent for the Horst link design from AMP) with a sticker on the drive-side chainstay.
I notice this from giant's web site today
"Some elements of the NRS frame design were licensed from SPECIALIZED® and relate to the FSR Suspension Design U.S. patents 5,509,679/5,678,837/5,899,480"
