Tell me.... If its the 90's why is there still bike shops around? Why is there still Supermarkets, instead of internet websites?

Buying on the net isnt everyones chioce, it may be cheaper and less hassle, But you dont get the peace of mind you get if you buy it yourself from the bike store...

If it goes wrong, or isnt what u wanting then your in trouble, also you have to worry about "grey label goods"

These are copies of what are really being sold, and apparently, you dont get your warranty if you buy Grey label stuff...

Im not sure if this is true, but a bike shop owner near me was talking about it to me, can anyone confirm this?

Let people make up their own minds on what the want to do to get their bike bits..

Actually I have bought some SIDI shoes from this UK company, and then sold them on eBAY for almost twice as much. The s/h was about $30, but I still made out like a bandit! Amazing that I can buy shoes overseas cheaper than in the US. It may have something to do with SIDI's being made in Italy... Who knows.

By grey label do you mean oem. Then yes there is no warranty with oem equipment usually.

Gotta say I agree. I do buy a lot online but where is the personality of going to the shop and interacting with other riders / builders.

Well, we dont get much interaction of riders over here, Over in america its sorta like a brotherhood of bikers, over here it isnt like that...

I posted this to help people make wise decisions (like not wasting their money at the local bike shop). Sorry if you have a prob with that....
I have a few answers for those questions you listed.
1) Bike shops are around because of people who don't know how to save money, nor how to fix their bikes.
2) Supermarkets exist locally because we don't have freezers as big as a house to store enuf food to make it sensible to buy in bulk from online. Also there is a slight delay from when you ordered your frozen pizza, and when you would be able to eat it...
3) I'm not sure how getting ripped-off at your local bike shop gives you a peace of mind, but to me the peace of mind comes from buying the product at the lowest possible price, and not wasting my gas/time going to get it.
4) Now that you mentioned "Gray Label" goods... I must appologize for my doubting your knowledge. My K2 bike label actually had "Huffy" underneath it.... I'm taking them to court. Ha Ha Ha ....

I thought I put in my post $30 for s/h, but apparently I "cloaked" it.... Duh.. That $30 wasn't all that bad considering I ordered several pairs of shoes. I made around $60 clear off each pair I sold on eBAY... Unfortunately, Xpedia raised their price soon after I made my purchase. Else I would still be selling them. I could still make about $25 - $30 /pair, but it's not worth the trouble to me right now...

Lol.. I do shop online. so far i havent bought anything from my lbs.... Except one pair of pedals... Most bike shops give you genuine goods though, where as if your getting of the internet, it may work out cheaper, but how can you really be sure that what you getting is the real thing?

It must just be a UK thing. I've NEVER got anything under a wrong label.... That's illegal. Even OEM items are "supposed" to be manufactured by the correct, legal maker. There are re-sellers that slap their label on goods that they sell, like WalMart, Sears, etc. They don't actually make any of the goods with their names on them. My TDK 8x DVD recordable drive is actually a Plextor drive with "TDK" on the case. Everything inside the case is exactly like the $50 higher Plextor. It is, in fact, the same drive, made at the same factory. Novelty items, such as sunglasses, handbags and accessories are often sold as "Fake" copies. They can legally sell the items, provided they admit that their items are indeed fake's, or type's of the original. Usually a very slight design change is used to get around the copyright lawsuits. Sunglasses & watches are two of the most popular items like this. Most people would never know the difference....
