Just back from Buffalo to Albany bike trip on Dahon MU P8 . I left my car in Albany, and took Amtrak to Buffalo. Folded bike was not a problem on the train. I did not have to box, bag, the bike. The 8 speed gearing was quite adequate. I only had to walk the bike on on hill. I think that folding bikes are a great way to combine bus or rail travel with cycling, without the aggravation of air travel.
